Danielle Auguste
Student, Miami Dade College
All children have the ability to learn, some just learn better in
different settings or require additional time and resources to aid
progress. Some students may choose to continue their education through
summer school and by retaking the FCAT.
Danielle Auguste was struggling in math and only acquired adequate
reading skills. Her grade point average was low and when it came
time to take the FCAT she struggled through it. Danielle enrolled
herself into intense remediation including time in summer school,
which uses activities like accelerated credit or competency based
instruction for credit deficiency, grade forgiveness to improve students’ grade
point average and skills remediation to help students pass the FCAT.
Danielle was driven to succeed and also enrolled in Adult Education
Programs, Saturday school, and tutoring.
After some hard work, Danielle was able to graduate. She has found
a love of learning and continues to aim high in order to meet success.
Currently, she is enrolled at Miami Dade College with a focus on
Biology. Danielle has earned 11 credit hours and now has a 4.0 grade
point average.
